Helping you manage PCOS
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder affecting women, and symptoms can include- heavy or irregular periods, acne and unwanted facial hair. It is also one of the main causes of female fertility issues.
The good news is, I can help you manage PCOS symptoms – and also make sure that when you want to start a family, you’re in the best possible position to do so.
At the IVF Australia clinic in Greenwich, my team and I can help you understand PCOS and your PCOS symptoms, and devise a tailored treatment plan that will include optimising your health now.
What are the symptoms of PCOS?
If you have PCOS, you may experience irregular menstrual cycles (they could be heavy and infrequent), facial hair growth, acne or obesity.
These are all caused by imbalances in hormone production, including a mild increase in testosterone levels. Importantly, this can make it much more difficult for you to fall pregnant.
I can diagnose PCOS with an ultrasound and blood test, and then we can discuss the best treatment option given the long-term implications of PCOS. These might include lifestyle changes or medication to overcome the symptoms. If you are planning on starting a family you may need to consider IVF treatment.
If you know or suspect you have PCOS you can make an appointment to discuss your options please call 02 9425 1600 or email me.
